How hard is it to make a PS2 looks halfway decent on an HDTV?

Is it possible to make the PS2 not look like total dick on an HDTV? I have a CRT, which it and all my old consoles are currently plugged into, but it's about the only console I really play on it, so I'm thinking of taking it out of my entertainment center and just plugging it up to my HDTV. The problem is that using the normal AV cables I have make it look like boiled ass on a stick. Do component or other "HD" cables exist for it? If so, what's the price range on them?

Just searched Amazon and found a generic component cable for fucking 3 Yuros. It exists.

Well, that was simple. What about a component switch box? I currently have my Wii connected to my TV's only port, and it'd be a pain to switch them out every time.

A switchbox will work, but it might degrade the picture quality just a tad.
Or if you're a richfag, get an A/V receiver with some tower speakers and a toslink cable.

Also, you can play Gran Turismo 4 in 1080i with component calbes.

That does seem a little pricey, but worth it. I might just deal with it for a little while. 5 bucks for the cable itself is about the only thing that's in my price range right now.

Since we are on the topic of cables, what are the pros of using an Hdmi cable to connect my PC to the monitor? Or the VGA cable is ok enough?
