"Honestly speaking, we haven't sold a single Xbox yet today. The Xbox has never been a big-seller, but we would expect a few customers on the release day," a sales assistant at a Tokyo electronics store who asked for it not to be identified, told The Hollywood Reporter.

Microsoft is expected to sell 500, yes, 500 consoles during the Japanese release of the Xbox One.

I don't know why microsoft even bothered, seriously, but anyway, consoles are so fucking dead in japan it's not even funny.

I was just reading the news and saw that sony announced that it's new xperia z3 will support remote play just like the vita does. It's pretty much a confirmation that there won't be another handheld on sony's behalf and that it's preparing to sort of adapt to the smartphone domination while still being tied to the more traditional games in console gaming instead of angry birds and the like. I wonder what the other two are gonna do about it, specially nintendo, whose handheld is pretty much what is keeping the company relevant, but is selling nowhere near as much as its predecessor in the same time frame. Although that mario announcement for smartphones a while back is not encouraging, I don't think they are going to sacrifice anything and that they will just keep doing what they are doing.

Nintendo and Sony are having a hard time selling their consoles. Microsoft went in there expecting to sell consoles when they've neglected that market for almost a decade.

The 360 had NO GAMES for them and people wonder why nobody is buying a Xbone.
