Mmmm. Finally I can buy a hotdog outside of Lion's Choice

...I'm spoiled on Chicago style hot dogs...it must be an all beef wiener, (preferably Nathan's or Vienna Beef) a steamed poppy seed hot dog bun, easy mustard, relish, tomato, cucumber and celery salt, and every so often I like a jalapeno pepper to top it off. I will try the Burger King dog, but I am not holding my breath.

Ah, yes, and the relish should be that neon green relish that looks so garish and tastes so wonderful!

I'm not a hot dog eater, maybe once a year. I don't like the Chicago Style hot dog (what makes something Chicago style, or New York style etc?), I either like just cheese and onion on my dog or a chili cheese dog. I will try a Burger King chili dog if they are sold at the local Burger King. When I was a teen, I liked making the trip to Hot Dog John's in East Chicago, In. for their chili dogs. This place was around when my mother was a kid and it was supposed to be a front for a bookie joint , being in East Chicago, it was probably true. I don't think its there anymore, those dogs could probably cause bleeding ulcers The building was also falling apart ( a real dump) but it was a popular place.

They look good so I will give them a try.

"(what makes something Chicago style, or New York style etc?),"
A Chicago style hot dog is how I described it in my previous post. In New York, they put (heaven forbid) ketchup on the hot dog. In Chicago, ketchup on a hot dog is sacrilege...

Yeah I know what a Chicago Style dog is being from that area(poppy seed bun, celery salt, chopped onions, tomato wedges, sweet pickle relish, slice of pickle, some kind of pickled pepper, yellow mustard ) I was just wondering why certain foods were named "Chicago" style or "New Style" or "Boston Style" etc. BTW at the ball parks ( especially old Comiskey Park, I saw plenty of people smearing ketchup on their hot dogs.

Sox fans, what do they know?

Too bad I can't say anything about Cub fans because WKD is a rare breed - he likes both the Sox and the Cubs.

Oh hail nah. New York style is mustard and onions or mustard and sauerkraut. Many like Red Onion Sauce which is made with some tomato paste but it is nothing like ketchup.

Oh, I know a few, they consider themselves "Chicago fans" and they support all Chicago teams. Not only does he support both the Sox and the Cubs, when he was a little boy he supported both the Chicago Cardinals and the Chicago Bears (the Bears being his favorite). Strange wasn't it, the Cardinals played at Comiskey Park and the Bears played at Wrigley Field.

My dad hated the Bears. He was a Cardinals fan, and insisted that the Bears drove the Cardinals out of Chicago. I don't know whether or not that's true.

I don't know either-I've never been a football fan.

"mustard and sauerkraut."
Good grief...that sounds disgusting...

What is easy mustard?
18 Name: Anonymous : 2016-02-14 18:36
>>17"What is easy mustard?"
Mustard applied to the dog in a single slender squeeze, not sloshed all over the dog. I wanna taste the dog, and too much mustard is unbearable IMO.

>>18Ah! That makes sense.
I dislike excessive mustard too, ditto mayo. Both can drown out the flavor of the food.

The only thing I get from Burger King is their Frappe's.

I really like my hot dogs boiled or steamed which is easy to do yourself on the stovetop. Quick and easy. I think boiled is the way to go.
Unhealthy as Burger King is, I might just give it a try.

I rarely make hot dogs but once in a while WKD wants one so, like you, I just boil them. I will try a Burger King chili dog, and probably have a tummy ache the next day, but I'm curious.
