I try to read at least one novel every couple of weeks.

If you don't read great literature you're not educated. You'll have a very small vocabulary, you won't know much about what happened in the past or what people from different cultures think.

Also, great literature is authoritative. If a book has been considered great for 100 years or more - it likely is. Most of what you read on the Internet is nonsense or made up.

I just look at the pictures. Seriously, though, I haven't read a book in a few years despite owning many. I think I'd prefer to read non-fiction books.

Kindle goes with me everyplace but the grocery store. Also read paper books as well as hard covers.

A lot of people still read books, thats why libraries still exist

I'm reading Day of the Jackal and Mein Kampf right now. Mein Kampf was interesting for the first 50 or so pages, don't think I can finish it though. Day of the Jackal is great.

I had a similar experience.

Not only was Hitler... Well, Hitler. He was also a very clumsy, pretentious, cheesy self-absorbed writer. I remember telling myself that I needed to keep going because it was an important "historical document" that I should be knowledgable about. But I just couldn't get through it. Lousy, lousy writer. I remember a few years ago I found an article that was essentially about Hitler's horrendous writing style in that book.

I read about 20-30 novels per year. I like to read an actual book and hold it in my hands verses reading via a device.

I just read Pride and Prejudice (Jane Austen), Doctor Sleep (Stephen King) and I just started The Girl on the Train (Paula Hawkins). I've just recently discovered the Lee Child novels (Jack Reacher character) and have read the first two and I plan to read more.

You sound awful smart, I_Watch_Movies. I've been reading almost exclusively non-fiction for the last decade or so. I've also been reading some poetry recently (last few years...). Ironically, when I was younger I basically read exclusively fiction.

I used to buy a lot of books, but since I'm paying [property taxes] to get them for free, I've become fond of using that option.
